Covid 19 Experience

Posted by sunbeam.healing on April 28, 2020 at 11:30 AM Comments comments ()

Well 2020 has not quite turned into the year any of us were expecting!   Covid 19 has changed that for all of us.  What an interesting, transformational time to be experiencing in the world today.  I am currently at home recovering from CV19.  It has been quite a challenge but I am pleased to say that I am coming through the other side.  My symptoms developed on 1st April (sadly not an April Fool)!   I had a couple of days of being really unwell and then felt better.  After two days I relapsed quite badly and then spent five days in bed with the worst flu type symptoms.  Every part of me hurt.  I have never experienced anything like it.  I again started to feel better and was getting my strength back.   I did some hoovering and suddenly I couldn't breathe.  It was the most scary experience.   From there I had a further three day relapse where my breathing was compromised.   I was assessed by the local Covid Healthcare Hub via video call.   Their support and care was absolutely brilliant.   I was so lucky that my symptoms did not progress and with a lot of rest I am once again starting to feel better.   I am on day 28 today since my first symptoms started.   I did wonder whether I am allergic to hoovering  Time will tell!

Those who know me will know that being unwell is not something I am good at.   I am not a patient patient!   It has been a time of stillness, convalesence and complete rest.   I have found it challenging.  In that challenge I have looked at my reactions and have had some real aha moments.  I am fortunate to have Mindfulness, Reiki and Sound Therapy in my tool box to use to keep my health optimised.  I have also had the amazing support of family and friends and feel very blessed for this.

Isolation is a peculiar experience for many of us as we rely heavily on human touch and interaction.  For all those living alone, I truly hope lock down is over soon so that you can once again be free to socialise.   One positive side that has been reported from this horrible virus is the healing effect it has had on our planet.  Air quality, ozone layer healing, rivers and oceans clean.   On the negative side, many people have died and there is much sadness and grief.   One thing is for certain, we will all need to be kinder, nurturing and understanding.  There will be many people who will need help and support without judgement.

To anyone struggling today please know that this will pass.   It may pass like a kidney stone but it will pass.

There are many people who are having to re-arrange their plans that had been made for this year.  My eldest daughter was due to get married in July.  Two years of planning has had to be re-evaluated and a new date has now been set for later in the year.  We are so looking forward to the celebration.  Stay safe everyone, look after each other and know that brighter days are coming.

Gong Meditation

It has been ages since I have written a blog.  This last eighteen months seems to have flown by.  We have moved house and are now living in a beautiful house next to the sea in the South Hams in Devon.  Being in nature and so close to the sea is a dream come true for me and I have never felt better.

I have been really enjoying using my gongs at gong baths and in 1 to 1 sessions with people.   The transformations that people experience are so wonderful to see and share.   The gongs and chime pipes I use in my sessions allow people the chance to relax, come to a complete stop and really gift themselves quality time just for them.  The relaxation they experience is so profound and they express that they have not felt that relaxed and at ease for a long time.  It never ceases to amaze me or inspire me as to how enjoyable people find the experience.  I absolutely love using sound to help facilitate people into that relaxed state.  It is always a privilege when people choose me as the person within which they place their trust and I really hope they come away feeling empowered and uplifted thus enhancing their overall well being.

If you are considering trying a gong/sound bath but are a bit sceptical then just go with the flow and give it a try.  I truly believe you will be pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

I look forward to sharing more frequently on my blog and not leaving it another 18 months!

Working with Sound and Reiki

It is always such a pleasure to use my tuning forks, singing bowls, chime pipes and gongs.   I combine the sounds with a reiki and just love the benefits that the two modalities bring.   I recently worked with a very anxious lady whose thoughts were racing and as such she was unable to be present.  She was constantly living in her head and unable to communicate with her body.   She had a 45 minutes treatment of sound and reiki and within about 15 minutes she just visibly surrendered to the whole experience.   When she spoke to me after the session she said it was the most relaxed and connected she has ever been.  She felt her whole body give in and just come to a stop.   Since the session the lady has used purchased her own set of tuning forks and has been able to use them every day for a few minutes each day.   They stop her mind racing and she says she is "able to feel more connected to herself"!   Wow.   I just love that the two modalities together bring about such a calming effect.   If you are considering a session of reiki or sound therapy then give me a call to discuss.   Money should never be a barrier to experiencing calm and if you are struggling to pay then please let me know.   Namaste

Mindfulness Practice

Im sitting at home this evening taking the opportunity to sit quietly and enjoy some peace and quiet.   I have lit some candles and have some of my favourite crystals out.  The wind is howling outside and the rain is lashing against the windows.   Taking time to sit quietly and do a mindful meditation is so very valuable.   In a busy and challenging world it is so important to take time to just BE.   No time constraints, no phone, no television.  Just the opportunity to sit and connect in with myself.   I really hope you get the chance to do the same this weekend and take some time to notice how you are feeling.  Never forget how important you and to take care of your self.   Wishing you a happy weekend. x

I have recently moved to Devon from Kent. I am really enjoying the beautiful Devon Countryside. I am looking forward to meeting new friends and sharing my home with old friends when they come and visit.
